Be healthy when you're feeling lazy

Being healthy can be hard when you have a lot going on. You get home from work, get straight into your comfies. You are too tired to get into the kitchen and spend an hour or even 30 minutes cooking a meal. It's moments like these when toasties and cereal come in handy, but if you're trying to keep things healthy, what else is there to eat?
You don't have to be on a strict diet to be healthy. When you don't feel up to it, you still can maintain a healthy lifestyle without feeling overwhelmed. Your body needs different things at different times, depending on the season, your mood and your physical condition. Well, there are a bunch of pretty nutritious, quick, filling and delicious snacks you can have when you're feeling lazy.

Drink a cold, non-caffeinated beverage
Often when we are tired, it's because we are dry and our brain needs fluid. Drink a lot of fluids, especially during the summer. Iced water, lemonade, smoothie or any diluted fruit juice. Drink it throughout the day. It will keep your body fluids stable. Add fruits or veggies(lemon, cucumber) into your water. If you choose something sweeter, swap in healthier sweeteners for your sweet tooth.

Munch in some nuts

Nuts are a great snack to have when you're hungry. Packed with protein and good fats,  this can give you a boost when you are feeling inactive. A handful goes a long way to satisfy.

Get an antioxidant boost

Including antioxidants into your diet is one of the best things you could do for a lazy body. Have dark chocolate or one cup of green tea. Both are excellent sources of antioxidants which may give you a mental boost. The energy comes from the nutrition provided by the carbohydrate or protein, not from the antioxidant.

Take a short nap

Taking a quick nap is one of the best things you could do when you feel exhausted. Set an alarm and try to keep it short so it doesn't affect your normal sleep cycle. Take a break from looking at your screen so you can rest your eyes.

Eat vegetable for snack
Fresh vegetables can be a major and easily available dose of nutrition. Just chop some veggies, add some spices or sauce and you’re good to go. So, so simple! Eat vegetables and train your tastebuds to crave healthy foods.

Grab some frozen meals
Pre-make your meals at the beginning of the week so you can freeze and eat them when you don't feel like cooking. Pop them into the microwave to defrost for a quick, healthy dish. Frozen food doesn’t lose its nutritional value over time.

Always have snacks on hand
Always have a sufficient amount of snacks with you. Place a few different healthy snacks(apples, nuts, sprouts, berries) in your bag so you can always have a mini healthy meal on hand.

Life's a long game. There's nothing wrong with treating yourself to a lazy, more easygoing meal if it helps you stay on track. Even if it is not motivating, the fact that you are doing something good for you can have a positive impact on your attitude and then you may feel more energized. Something is better than nothing. Right?
